Annual Business Meeting
2002 AIR Forum in Toronto, Canada
June 4, 2002 - 5:00 to 5:40 p.m.
The TBCU/SIG annual business meeting was called to order by incoming President Alice Simpkins. Following greetings by President Simpkins, a get acquainted period was held in which the 23 persons in attendance introduced themselves to the group. The Secretary/Treasurer, Cathy Tanner, presented the minutes of the last meeting that was held at the 2001 SAIR Conference in Panama City Beach, Florida. President Simpkins asked for a motion to accept the minutes. The motion was made by Dorothy Chaegle and Brenda Bryant. The financial statement for the period ending May 30, 2002 was presented to membership as information by Cathy Tanner, TBCU Secretary/Treasurer. The financial statement was accepted as information by the membership. The Official TBCU Membership Roster was distributed and included a total of 58 members as of May 30, 2002. Corrections for information listed in the Membership Roster should be forwarded to the Secretary/Treasurer as neccessary.
was presented to the membership. A motion to approve financial statement, a motion to approve the statement was made by Janis Newborn and seconded by Brenda Bryant. The Official TBCU Membership Roster reflected a total of 55 members. TBCUers were asked to review their listings on the membership roster and report necessary corrections to the Secretary/Treasurer.
Vice President Simpkins asked the membership to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of the many individuals who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 (World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and plane crash in Pennsylvania) and the USA response to the attackers.
Old Business:
The revised TBCU Constitution and By-Laws dated October 1997 and approved during the TBCU annual business meeting in Long Beach, California, will be distributed to the membership via email or regular mail where necessary by November 2001.
Vice President Simpkins asked the members to contribute to the next publication of the TBCU Research Journal by submitting small studies, brief research projects, factbooks and other planning documents that may mutually benefit the membership who need assistance formulating documents addressing those areas of institutional research. Articles should be forwarded to Vice President Simpkins who will then submit them to the appropriate person for inclusion in the next Journal.
New Business:
Vice President Simpkins thanked the guests who attended the meeting and extended a special invitation to join the TBCU Special Interest Group of the Association for Institutional Research.
In response to the news that Dr. Charles I. Brown, the “Godfather” of TBCU had recently undergone surgery, Vice President Simpkins asked that the members to send Charlie a “get well” card from the SAIR Conference in Panama City Beach, FL.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
